Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about osteopathy and what to expect.
-
Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to treating pain and movement problems. It focuses on how the body’s structure and systems work together, helping ease tension, improve mobility and support long-term wellbeing.
-
No. You don't need a referral or diagnosis. If you're experiencing pain, stiffness, or movement restrictions, that's enough. We'll talk through what's happening and work out the best approach together.
-
Yes. Osteopathy is a regulated profession and I'm registered with professional bodies. I assess you carefully before treatment and tailor everything to your needs. If you have any health concerns, we'll discuss them openly.
-
Osteopathy shouldn't be painful. You might feel some tenderness in tight areas, but I work within your comfort. If anything feels wrong, tell me and we'll adjust. The goal is to help you feel better, not worse.
-
It depends on what you're dealing with and how your body responds. Some people feel better after one or two appointments. Others benefit from ongoing support. We'll talk about this after your first visit and create a plan that makes sense for you.
-
Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows me to assess and treat you effectively. You'll remain clothed throughout, and I'll only work with the areas we've discussed.
-
Yes. I have specialist training in hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. My approach is different for hypermobile bodies—we focus on stability, control, and protecting your joints rather than increasing mobility.
-
I'm currently in specialist training for canine osteopathy and will be offering this service in the future. For now, I focus entirely on human patients. Join the waitlist if you'd like to be updated when this becomes available.
